Gene editing and immune therapy
Negene welcomes Professor Sidi Chen from the Department of Genetics and the Systems Biology Institute at Yale. Professor Chen's lab is helping lead the away in using CRISPR to develop targeted immunotherapies for cancer.
After obtaining his PhD at the University of Chicago with Dr. Manyuan Long, Professor Chen did his postdoctoral training with Nobel Laureate and leading RNA biologist Dr. Phil Sharp at MIT, and also with CRISPR pioneer Dr. Feng Zhang at the Broad Institute and Harvard University. Professor Chen developed gene editing and high-throughput screening technologies, precision CRISPR-based in vivo models of cancer, global mapping of functional drivers of cancer oncogenesis and metastasis. His recent discoveries include novel systems enabling rapid identification of novel immunotherapy targets and new modalities of cancer immunotherapy.
Professor Chen's recent research also provides new insights into the transcriptional landscape under SARS-CoV-2 infection, and the molecular mechanism of COVID-19 cellular pathology.
